We endeavor to only use safe ingredients that offer peace of mind in this restaurant. We use pesticide-free soba noodles produced in Hokkaido, Ibaraki Prefecture and Nagano Prefecture. The interior of this restaurant was designed by the architect Kengo Kuma. The earthen walls are the work of a plasterer called Shuhei Hasado. In addition, we use Wajima-nuri lacquerware, a traditional craft of Japan, and ceramic works made carefully piece by piece for the vessels you will hold in your hands. We have named our restaurant Hanwarai (meaning "half smile" in Japanese). This comes from our desire to spread the culture of soba noodles that represent Japanese food around the world while sharing laughter. We would like you to spend a spiritually rich time in a space like a home nestled quietly in a back alley. Please enjoy the soba noodles of Hanwarai.
